Convert multiple DVD VOB Files into one MP4 on Mac or Windows with HandBrake

It is easy but google does not help too much as there are hundreds of semi legal sites trying to get their software installed on your system. Beware. Most of these tools are not functional, nor intended for this and it is not even clear that those are not viruses.

There is a open Source option available: Handbrake

Download and install HandBrake. It’s available for Mac and Windows. It is free and open Source and it does the Job perfectly.

Prepare your VIDEO_TS Folder

If you have a folder with multiple VOB IFO and BUP Files, make sure to give the folder a proper name. Otherwise, HandBrake will only convert one VOB file and not concatenate all together into one.

Do the settings

I recommend to deinterlace the output and to do a sharpening. You can also scale up the video, but this won’t give too much more quality, but I hope it gives room for the other optimization filters.

Open The Folder for Conversion

Not click on „Open Media“ and select the VIDEO_TS folder, not the content. The folder. You can then check the settings and click on „Start“ to start encoding.
